Updated terms and conditions of home insurance
We are committed to ensuring your peace of mind, which is why we have improved our home insurance terms and conditions. The updated terms and conditions apply to policies signed on or after November 28, 2024.
We want you to feel more secure during the season when weather conditions continue to bring unexpected challenges. That is why we have enhanced our home insurance coverages related to flooding and rainwater ingress into buildings. Read more about what has changed.
Better coverage against flooding and rainwater ingress into buildings
Clarified security requirements
Insurance is there to help if, despite taking precautions, the damage could not be prevented. However, it is important to do your part to prevent the damage from happening in the first place. We have clarified some safety requirements in our terms to reduce the chances of damage occurring.
- To prevent rainwater ingress into the building, make sure to securely close all doors, windows, shutters, and other openings when the public weather service has issued a warning about severe weather (such as storms or heavy rain).
- To prevent water damage to property (including heating materials, e.g., wood briquettes) stored at the basement level (e.g., in a cellar), items should be stored at least 10 cm above the floor, for example, on pallets or shelves.
- Bikes, scooters, and other light vehicles should be locked to prevent theft in public spaces and common storage areas, such as locked garages, staircases, and similar rooms.
Important to know
Deductible for repeated damages
For flood and rainwater ingress coverage, there is no longer a limit on the number of claims. However, please note that starting from the second claim within a five-year period, a double deductible will apply across all packages.
Buildings and extensions without proper documentation
Insurance coverage does not apply to illegal extensions of buildings, such as terraces or balconies that have been enclosed without a building permit. In addition, if the policyholder has not obtained the necessary permits or documents (e.g., building permits), the payment of the insurance compensation may be suspended until all required permits have been officially issued and are valid.
Restrictions regarding electric bicycles and scooters
Home insurance coverage does not extend to electric bicycles and scooters with a motor power exceeding 1 kilowatt or a maximum speed exceeding 25 km/h.
